It will explain the basic concepts of biomaterials per se and in tissue engineering, presenting state-of-the-art applications in skin, bone and joint replacement as well as introduce students to dental implants, artificial heart valves, vascular prostheses and ophthalmic devices. The lecture series will further address state-of-the-art bioprinting of tissues, biomaterials as drug-delivery systems and biomaterial-associated infections.
